Question:
Can you fast on a Friday during Shawwal without fasting in a pattern (e.g. Sawm Dawudi or continuous 6 days together) or fast on a Friday without fasting a day together with it? Answer:In the Name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.
It is permissible to fast on a Friday without fasting a day before or after it or without fasting in any pattern. Hence, it will be permissible to fast on a Friday in Shawwal even if one does not fast a day before or after it and even if one does not fast in any specific pattern.
However, one should not specify only Fridays for fasting in the sense that one only fasts on Fridays and on no other days. This applies to all months of the year. [1] And Allah knows best.
