Question:

Is blood test permissible while fasting? Does taking one's blood out break the fast?

Answer:

In the Name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.

Doing a blood test is permissible while fasting. Removing blood does not break the fast. However, if one fears that by removing his blood, he will become weak and therefore will be unable to continue fasting, it will be makrooh for him to remove his blood while fasting.

ولا بأس بالحجامة إن أمن على نفسه الضعف أما إذا خاف فإنه يكره وينبغي له أن يؤخر إلى وقت الغروب وذكر شيخ الإسلام: شرطُ الكراهةِ ضعفٌ يحتاج فيه إلى الفطر، والفصد نظير الحجامة هكذا في المحيط ( الفتاوى الهندية: 1/220 )
