Question:
_
Is
it permissible to have third party car insurance and RACV roadside assistance?
Answer: In the Name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.
_ It is not permissible to have third party car insurance if it is not legally binding to have car insurance in order to drive. In Victoria and (some) other states of Australia, it is not legally binding to have car insurance in order to drive; therefore it will not be permissible to have car insurance in such a case. This is also the view of Mufti Taqi Usmani (May Allah protect him), Mufti Ebrahim Desai (May Allah protect him) and other leading scholars.
