giving zakat more than calculated amount

Question:

Can I give more amount of zakaat than the calculated amount to cover any mistakes in estimation. Would that extra amount be considered as zakaat or I have to make some other niyat for it?

Also, can I give zakaat earlier than one year if I intend to do it in the month of Ramadan?

Answer:

In the Name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.

Yes, it permissible to give more amount of zakat than the calculated amount in order to cover mistakes in estimation. There is no need to make any separate intention for the extra amount.
