Question:

Is it obligatory to wash one's private part at the beginning of ghusl? What if one forgets? Does he have to repeat the ghusl?

In the Name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.

There are three obligatory acts in ghusl: 1) to rinse one’s mouth 2) to rinse one’s nose 3) to wash the entire body.

To wash one’s private part in the beginning of ghusl is Sunnah, not obligatory. If a person forgot to wash his private part in the beginning of ghusl, there is no need to repeat the entire ghusl.
