Question: I want to know if someone has only gold and no
silver, but value of gold is equal to silver nisab then is Zakat is compulsory
on that gold? What will be situation if someone has some gold and some silver
how to calculate zakat on these items? Answer: بِسْمِ

الرَّحِيْم In the Name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most
Merciful. If a person has
gold but no money, no silver and no merchandise, then zakat will only be
compulsory on him if he has 87.479 grams of gold or more. If a person has some gold and some silver, or some gold and some
money, or some gold and some merchandise, then zakat will be compulsory on him
if the total value of his gold, silver, money and merchandise is the value of
612.36 grams of silver or more. If someone has some gold and some silver and he needs to pay
zakat on them, the way to calculate zakat on them is that he should firstly find
out the total value of the gold and silver. Thereafter, he should give 2.5% of
that amount in zakat. And
