I want to know if someone has only gold and no silver, but value of gold is equal to silver nisab then is Zakat is compulsory on that gold? What will be situation if someone has some gold and some silver how to calculate zakat on these items?
بِسْمِ اللهِ الرَّحْمنِ الرَّحِيْم
In the Name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.
If a person has gold but no money, no silver and no merchandise, then zakat will only be compulsory on him if he has 87.479 grams of gold or more.
If a person has some gold and some silver, or some gold and some money, or some gold and some merchandise, then zakat will be compulsory on him if the total value of his gold, silver, money and merchandise is the value of 612.36 grams of silver or more.
If someone has some gold and some silver and he needs to pay zakat on them, the way to calculate zakat on them is that he should firstly find out the total value of the gold and silver. Thereafter, he should give 2.5% of that amount in zakat.
And Allah Ta'ala knows best
