Question: Assalamualaikum sheikh, Sheikh my husband applied
for a car loan & it got approved. Riba is
involved in it clearly. Since he made me a director of his company a month a ago I need to sign in it. But I
don’t want to do that at all. He says without my signature he won’t be able to
get it. If I don’t sign he will loose
some money. Sheikh I really don’t want
to involve in it & I don’t want my husband to get it either. Kindly advise me how to
deal with this. Jazak’Allah khair Answer: بِسْمِ
اللهِ الرَّحْمنِ الرَّحِيْم In the Name of Allah, the
Most Gracious, the Most Merciful. You should not
sign the agreement which is based on the dealing of interest (Riba). You should encourage your husband to stay away from
any dealings that involve Riba. Jabir R.A. reports that Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) cursed the devourer
of interest, its payer, the one who writes it and the two witnesses. And he
said: They are all equal. (Sahih Muslim).
One should bear the loss of this world over
the severe punishment and anger of Allah Ta’ala on
the Day of Judgement. If appropriate and needed, you may seek the
intervention of a religious and respectable relative. May Allah Ta’ala
save you and your husband from any form of disobedience to Allah Ta’ala. And Allah Ta'ala
knows best. Umar Azhar Syed Checked and approved by: Mufti Munib Ahmad
