Question: I am a computer science engineer. But now I
want to be alim or mufti and sacrifice my whole life
only for islam. But my
parents want me to be addicted to this worldly life, earn lot of money even in
haram way. They are not giving permission to study in madrasa. They are not
dependent on me anyhow because they are already rich and I have an elder
brother as well to care them. I already know that I can learn compulsory
knowledge without their permission.
Answer: بِسْمِ

الرَّحْمنِ
الرَّحِيْم In the Name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most
Merciful. If your parents do not need your support and they
have someone else to take care of them, then it will be permissible for you to
study to become an alim and mufti without their
permission. It will also be permissible for you to leave your town for this
purpose provided that you will not have to face any dangers by doing so.
However, always treat your parents kindly and be humble to them. Never be harsh
or rude to them. And always fulfil their rights. (Shaami:
