Question:
The reference given after this hadith in Muntakhab Hadith is as follows: رواه
الحاكم وقال
هذا حديث صحيح
الإسناد ولم يخرجاه
ووافقه
الذهبي
Were surahs or
sections of the Quran revealed in previous books? Also as the Quran is in
Arabic, what language was the Torah revealed in and what language was surah al-Mulk in when revealed in the torah? Answer: بِسْمِ
اللهِ
الرَّحْمنِ
الرَّحِيْم In
the Name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful. There
are two possible interpretations of the hadith:1) The
meaning of Surah Mulk was in the Tawrah
, just as the meaning of certain other Surahs of the
Holy Quran was in the previous holy books. 2) Due to its virtue, there was
reference to Surah Mulk in the Tawrah.
By taking these two interpretations, the objection that you alluded to –
i.e. that the Quran is in Arabic whereas the previous holy books were in other
languages – will fall away. The
interpretations above are based on the explanation the Mufassireen
have given of verse 196 of Surah Shu’araa’.
