Question: In Australia, almost all sheep have their tails docked (removed)
in order to reduce the build-up of faeces which can encourage fly strike (wool
maggots). Now, in the Fiqh books it is mentioned that
if an animal has a third or more of its tail removed, it is not permissible to
use such an animal for qurbani (udhiyya);
otherwise the qurbani will be invalid. The question
is: Does that mean that it is not permissible to do qurbani
of sheep in Australia? Answer: بِسْمِ

الرَّحِيْم In the Name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most
Merciful. The
rule that you referred to – i.e. the animal must not have a third or more
of its tail removed – does not apply to sheep. Hence, even if the entire
tail of a sheep is removed, it will be permissible to do qurbani
of it. في
