Question: Asalamoalaikum Mufti Sahab, My wife and my 2 kids want to travel to Pak but without me as my
visa does not allow me to travel at this time. I know that she can't travel without a Mehram
but is it okay if she goes with my brothefr and his
family (his wife and 2 kids). My son is 2 years old and daughter is 6
months old. Jazakallah khair Answer: بِسْمِ اللهِ الرَّحْمنِ الرَّحِيْم In the Name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful. In
principle, it is not permissible for a woman to travel more than 77km without a
baaligh male mahram or husband travelling with her.
Therefore, it will not be permissible for your wife to travel in the manner you
described. Your brother and his children are not mahrams
for your wife. A mahram is someone with whom marriage is permanently forbidden,
such as a father, brother, uncle (father’s or mother’s brother) etc. (
